John Kunkel, owner and founder of 50 Eggs Inc.’s newest concept Chica Las Vegas delivers the robust and vibrant flavors of Latin cuisine combined with a dynamic wine and mixology program. Crafted by celebrity Latina chef Lorena Garcia, the diverse menu draws inspiration from classic renditions and will give guests the opportunity to explore the flavors of Latin American cuisine as one culture, with influences from Venezuela, Peru, Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina, among many more. Eater Las Vegas calls Chica “the most-anticipated Las Vegas restaurant set to debut in spring of 2017,” and it is open daily for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch. Multiple private dining areas will offer group space to enjoy a variety of events, from cocktail parties to large seated dinners.

Owner and Founder

In the heart of Miami, restaurateur John Kunkel, founder of 50 Eggs, Inc., focuses his unwavering passion for food and cooking a wide variety of cuisines into a diverse group of successful culinary concepts. In just under two decades, Kunkel has built 50 Eggs, Inc into an award winning restaurant group, demonstrating his talents with brand ideation, menu development and operational excellence for a broad range of hospitality concepts.

A true American success story: Kunkel has launched some of the country’s most successful concepts including Yardbird Southern Table & Bar Miami in 2011. Offering Kunkel’s take on refined Southern food, it was named a James Beard Semifinalist for “Best New Restaurant South,” was lauded in the New York Times and recognized as one of Bon Appétit’s “50 Best New Restaurants.”

A tribute to his passion and Southern roots, Yardbird Miami has won consistent praise and acclaim from around the country. Adding to the legacy, in July 2014 he announced the expansion of the home-grown Yardbird Southern Table & Bar Miami, to an 8,000 square foot space which opened in Las Vegas in January 2015 on iconic restaurant row at The Venetian Las Vegas.

Venezuelan-born restaurateur, TV personality, TV producer, philanthropist, and published author Lorena Garcia is currently one of the country’s leading chefs, well known for numerous TV series, a successful chain of restaurants, and cookbooks.

Garcia first embraced a love of food as a child, at family gatherings while growing up in Caracas, Venezuela. She graduated with a Bachelors degree in culinary arts from Johnson & Wales University and more recently received an honorary doctorate in culinary arts. She took her first job as an apprentice at the Ritz-Carlton in Paris, subsequently working her way through Italy, Japan, Korea, Thailand, and China. Returning to the U.S., she continued to hone her chops and helped prepare a few, at the Grand Bay Hotel, Jeffery Chodorow’s China Grill, and Red Square.

In July 2002 Garcia took the leap and opened her own restaurants, Food Café and then Elements Tierra, in Miami’s Design District. Garcia's latest restaurant project is CHICA at The Venetian. This exciting, diverse menu draws inspiration from classic renditions and gives guests the opportunity to explore the flavors of Latin American cuisine with influences from Venezuela, Peru, Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina, among many more.
